Lettre de motivation

Ladies and Gentlemen,

This letter is to express my sincere
interest in completing my studies with an internship abroad in Business Law.

I am currently doing my Master’s
degree in Finance and Business Law.
I would like to pursue my experience in this field and acquire thorough
knowledge and expertise in the Business law of the financial
services industry. I specialised
in financial regulation, listed companies and stock exchange law, as well as
derivatives and UCITS. This leads
my interest to your Finance area of concentration.

As I
specialise in regulation law, I am currently doing research on the power of
sanction of the French regulatory authority (Autorité du marché financier). Work abroad would be a real opportunity. As a matter of fact, it would be most interesting for me to participate at a foreign system. Understanding these likely differences is essential for me, as I am
planning to work in an international law firm, as I will explain below.

I have had been raised in an international background and combined
academic knowledge with professional experience. A internship abroad would allow me to begin my career with the most adequate experience.

While I am a lawyer at heart and preparing to work in an
international law firm, I complete my legal training with pure finance and
business studies. I believe that
this financial background in my studies provides me
with a different point of view from that of “pure” lawyers. As a matter of fact, I am doing a
double major, incorporating legal training at a law school (University Paris
XI) and finance and business classes at a business school (ESCP). This combination gives me the practical
understanding of business structures designed by lawyers. It also gives me further understanding of the financial and
economic aspects which underlie legal processes, such as mergers and
acquisitions. My interest in economics presented itself early, as I graduated from
high school with a Major in Mathematics and Economics. Throughout my studies at University I
kept taking optional economics classes.

I have been an intern in Corporate law, at "ANTELIA CONSEILS" and "LCE". As I greatly liked
working in such an environment, I am planning to do an internship abroad as of march.
All those internships made me acquire new
skills as I was often given responsibilities and was granted independent work

I actively participated in Business law, writing memoranda. Daily
tasks consisted in the drafting of legal documents such as pledge agreements,
minutes of boards, due diligences or legal opinions. Thus I acquired client-relation and negotiation skills.

The strong point of an international firm is the cultural diversity
I took advantage of. Clients I was
in contact with were French, British, Yemenis ... While Translating contracts (French – English), I learned about the specificities of foreign legal systems.
These internships gave me the opportunity to assist closely to
transactions and to acquire new skills: a hands-on approach and skilled-related
practice regarding transactions, agreement negotiation and structure.

It is in this very perspective that I would relish the opportunity to
pursue with an internship abroad., as it will prepare me for an international career. My global outlook is very important to me as it will allow me to
work with foreign legal systems. This is also the reason way I would like to complete my international training.

Aside from academic skills, I would contribute to the dynamic and
cohesion of your firm as a highly motivated team player. Speaking easily in English and more in French and as a member of numerous student and
non-student societies, I communicate easily and integrate quickly into new

Yours Sincerely
